To take a full-page screenshot of a web page, use a tool your browser already has: in Microsoft Edge, press **Ctrl + Shift + S** and capture the full page; in Chrome, open DevTools and choose **Capture full size screenshot**; on iPhone, take a screenshot and tap **Full Page**.

The steps come from Google's Chrome for Developers documentation, Microsoft's Edge pages and Apple's iPhone and Mac guides, checked on October 10, 2026. Menu names can change with the browser version.

This guide is part of [A guide to saving articles and reading them later](</blog/saved-reading/guide-to-saving-articles-to-read-later>), which organizes every guide on the topic.

## How do I take a full-page screenshot in Microsoft Edge?

Microsoft's [Screenshot feature page](<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/features/screenshot>) says Edge can capture a full page or a selected area, including the parts of a long page you would have to scroll to see:

1. Open the page in Edge.
2. Press **Ctrl + Shift + S**, or open Screenshot from the right-click menu or the Edge **Settings and more** menu.
3. Choose the full-page capture.
4. In the overlay that appears, mark up the capture if you want, then copy it or save it to your files.

Microsoft notes that availability can vary by device, market and browser version. Its [older learning-center article](<https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/edge/learning-center/screenshot-webpage>) calls the same tool **Web capture** and the option **Capture full page**, so look for either name.

## How do I do it in Google Chrome?

Chrome keeps its full-page capture in DevTools, the developer tools built into the browser:

1. Open the page and open DevTools: **Ctrl + Shift + I** or **F12** on Windows and Linux, **Cmd + Option + I** on a Mac, according to [Google's DevTools guide](<https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/open>).
2. Click **Toggle device toolbar** at the top of DevTools.
3. Open **More options** in the device toolbar and choose **Capture full size screenshot**. Google's [device mode documentation](<https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/device-mode>) says this captures the whole page, including the content that isn't visible in the viewport.

You can also open the [Command Menu](<https://developer.chrome.com/docs/devtools/command-menu>) with **Ctrl + Shift + P** (Windows and Linux) or **Cmd + Shift + P** (Mac) and type "screenshot" to list DevTools' screenshot commands, such as **Capture area screenshot** for one part of the page.

## And on an iPhone?

According to [Apple's iPhone User Guide](<https://support.apple.com/guide/iphone/take-a-screenshot-iphc872c0115/ios>):

1. Open the page in Safari and take a screenshot: quickly press and release the side button and the volume up button together (on an iPhone with a Home button, the Home button and the side button).
2. Tap the screenshot thumbnail in the lower-left corner.
3. Tap **Full Page** to capture the content beyond the screen; drag on the preview at the right to see more of it.
4. To keep only part of it, drag the handles to crop; to annotate it, use the Markup tools, as the same guide describes.

Apple's guide gives capturing an entire webpage in Safari as the example for this option.

## What about Safari on a Mac?

[Apple's Mac screenshot guide](<https://support.apple.com/en-us/102646>) covers the entire screen (**Shift + Command + 3**), a portion (**Shift + Command + 4**) and the Screenshot app (**Shift + Command + 5**), but no whole-page option. For a long page on a Mac, use Chrome or Edge as above, or save the page as a PDF: [How to save a web page as a PDF on a computer](</blog/saved-reading/save-web-page-as-pdf-on-computer>) shows how, including the web address and the date.

## Screenshot or PDF: three checks before you capture

These checks are an original KeepAnalog suggestion, not steps from Google, Microsoft or Apple:

1. **Scroll to the end first**: some pages load images and sections only as you scroll, so let the whole page load before you capture it.
2. **Choose the format for the job**: a screenshot keeps what the page looked like; if you want to search or copy the text later, a PDF saved from the print dialog usually serves better.
3. **Write down the address and the date**: a screenshot does not show where it came from unless the address bar is in it, so name the file with the site and the date.

## What next?

To keep a copy anyone can check later, see [How to save a web page to the Wayback Machine](</blog/process-and-care/save-page-to-wayback-machine>). On a phone, [How to save a web page as a PDF on your phone](</blog/saved-reading/save-web-page-as-pdf-on-phone>) covers Android and iPhone. And if you prefer paper, KeepAnalog turns eligible public links chosen by one person (HTML pages or PDFs) into a monthly printed issue. Nothing is printed or charged until that person approves the issue. For now, KeepAnalog's pilot is in Argentina only, with no delivery in the United States.
